PRe-Project Reflection

I am really excited for my Edge Project. I think it will be a fun opportunity for people of all skill level to come show. I want to just be an easy going, low stress day for all of my exhibitors. I also hope I learn a lot about my organizational and planning skills. I think I’m already pretty competent in that area, but this will definitely show me my weaknesses.

My biggest concern about my Edge project is that I won’t have a big turn out. I want it to be a relatively big show, that’s what makes it more fun! I don’t really care about making money, although I’d like to be reimbursed for the shows expenses that I am paying for. I just want it to be successful. Plus, if I do have a big turn out, I will have some extra money to maybe pay the judge. This is not something I am planning on doing unless I have the money to do so.

If my horse show goes well, I think it will be a really cool thing that I can add to my resume and my digital portfolio. Considering the degree I am studying, this is something that is really unique. Having good planning and organizational skills is extremely important in any industry, and I think this will be an excellent way to showcase that. If I do chose to head into a career in the horse show industry, this shows that I have a great knowledge about it, and I could me capable of managing a larger, rated horse show.

With the help of the Edge class, I will be able to manage my show extremely well. I will be able to know every detail, and have it planned down to a Tee. There will be no way that I could ‘just wing it’. This is good because it reduces the possibility for things to go wrong, which will make it a much less stressful day for everyone. This is going to be a really cool experience for myself and my exhibitors.

Post project Reflection

Overall, I think my horse show went really well. I didn't have quite as big of turn out as a I would have liked, but I really appreciated all of those who showed up and participated. I really hope everyone had as much fun as I did. I gave away some great prizes, and everyone loves those, and on the bright side, without as many competitor, almost everyone won something! The people I worked with at the Parowan Fair Grounds were awesome in making sure the grounds were looking good and ready to go. The weather was perfect up until the very last classes of the day, when the wind picked up and it started to rain. Unfortunately, we had to end the show without finishing the last class. I got really good feed back from my show and I may even consider doing it again next year since everyone seemed to have a good time, and I had fun and learned a lot.
